Privacy & cookies
Plain English, no small print games. This explains what we collect when you use banksman.app, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Banksman is a product of DM.AI 4U Ltd ("we", "us"). We're the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
- Email: dom@dm4u.ai
- Phone: 07508 300353
If you've got any question about your data, email us and you'll get a reply from a person, usually the same day.
What we collect and why
1. When you ask for the live demo
The demo form asks for your name, company, email and phone number, and whether you'd like a call to walk you through it. We use this to:
- give you access to the demo;
- get in touch to see if Banksman fits your business (by phone or email), and ring you if you asked us to.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in responding to a business enquiry and promoting Banksman to businesses that have shown an interest. You can tell us to stop contacting you at any time, and we will.
2. When you email, ring or message us
We keep what you send us so we can reply and keep a record of the conversation. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (responding to you), or taking steps towards a contract if you're asking about becoming a customer.
3. Business contacts we reach out to
We sometimes contact construction businesses we think might benefit from Banksman, using business contact details that are publicly available (for example on a company website, Companies House or LinkedIn). Lawful basis: legitimate interests. Every email includes a way to opt out, and if you reply "no thanks" we'll add you to a suppression list so you don't hear from us again.
4. When you become a customer
We collect the account holder's name, company, email, phone and billing details so we can set up your account, invoice you and support you. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and our legal obligations (such as keeping financial records).
Payments are taken by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details; Stripe handles them under its own privacy policy.
5. Data your team puts into the Banksman app
When a customer uses the app, they add information about their own staff and sites (for example names, emails, timesheets, site photos and messages). For that data, the customer is the controller and we act as their processor: we only process it to run the service for them, under our customer terms. If you're a worker whose employer uses Banksman, please contact your employer first about your data. We'll help them deal with any request.
6. When you visit the website
Like every website, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (security and keeping the site working).
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data, and we don't let anyone else use it for their own marketing. We use a small number of trusted suppliers to run the business:
| Supplier | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the website and receives demo form submissions |
| Supabase | Database and login system behind the Banksman app |
| Stripe | Takes subscription and deposit payments |
| Google Workspace | Our business email |
If we switch on analytics or advertising tools (see cookies below), those providers will receive data only if you accept cookies.
Some of these suppliers are based in, or store data in, the United States or elsewhere outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US "data bridge".
We may also share data if the law requires it, or with professional advisers (such as our accountant) where needed.
How long we keep it
- Demo requests and enquiries: up to 2 years after we last heard from you, then deleted, unless you become a customer.
- Customer account data: for as long as you're a customer, then deleted or returned within 90 days of the account closing.
- Invoices and payment records: 6 years, because HMRC requires it.
- Opt-out list: kept indefinitely, just enough to make sure we don't contact you again.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it, or to delete it;
- object to us using it, including for direct marketing (we'll always stop marketing when asked);
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or to hand it over in a portable format.
Email dom@dm4u.ai and we'll respond within one month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. The law only lets us use cookies that aren't strictly necessary if you agree first.
What we use right now
The banksman.app website doesn't set any tracking or advertising cookies. We don't use Google Analytics, the Facebook pixel or anything similar at the moment, so you won't see a cookie banner. Our fonts are hosted on our own site, so visiting doesn't send your details to Google either.
The Banksman app (app.banksman.app) stores a login token in your browser so you stay signed in. That's strictly necessary to make the app work, so it doesn't need consent.
If that changes
If we add analytics (to see how people find and use the site) or advertising tools (to measure our adverts), we'll list them here and ask for your permission with a cookie banner first. Nothing will load until you click "Accept", and "Reject" will always be just as easy. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of every page.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
